2018 Call for Research Projects

The “Call for Research Projects 2018”, opened on March 20th, and closed on April 20th, 2018 was the eleventh Call for proposals launched by AriSLA Foundation to support the excellence of scientific research on ALS in Italy. 83 Letters of Intent (LOI) were submitted, involving 185 research centers, for a total value of over 15 million euro.

CALL CHARACTERISTICS – Researchers from Italian Universities and public and private non-profit research Institutes could submit a project proposal to the Call. Foreign companies and research organizations could participate only by co-funding.

FUNDING AREAS – The AriSLA 2018 Call for Projects has foreseen the possibility of presenting only “Full grants“, ie projects that develop promising areas of study based on a solid background, characterized by consistent preliminary data and proposing proposed multidisciplinary and high translation potential approaches in clinical practice. The invitation was to present proposals in the field of Basic and Translational Research.

PROJECT DURATION AND BUDGETProject proposals could last between 12 and 36 months and were allowed to request funding up to a maximum of € 240,000.

METHOD OF PARTICIPATION – The proposals could be submitted from March 20th until April 20th , 2018, through the online platform accessible on the website www.arisla.org.

EVALUATION PROCESS – Also for this Call 2018, AriSLA selection process in peer-review was entrusted to the International Scientific Committee, composed of a panel of international experts who evaluated the projects anonymously, in a multi-step process to ensure transparency, objectivity and enhancement of scientific merit.
